 o
lot of restraints

I'm looking for low shrubs or high groundcover (in the 18"-3' ballpark) that will grow in a 3' wide area on a slope (roughly 1:1 at the max, tapering down) between a sidewalk switchback (so in the winter there will be salt), that ideally would be native or acclimated to the area (no irrigation).

Not much will stand up to a lot of salt.
Couple of things come to mind...one is hosta...the variety depends on the size you want.
Another is gout weed....aegopidium. But that stuff sporeads like the plague and I wouldn't plant it unless it couldn't escape. But it's tough!
