Shallow root

I have a tree stump that my husband hollowed out about a six inch deep hole in,I would like to plant something in it, its in the shade with a little filtered sun, any ideas?

nasturtiums will grow in a teacup, though they like more sun than that.

Lamium (dead nettle) does fairly well in restricted rooting spaces, and will cascade over the sides.

and over time, that hole will grow bigger, as the plant helps speed up the decomposition process (drilling a bunch of holes straight down from the hollow with a decent sized drill bit will speed it up even more)
