Help, my builders planted hay instead with my wildflowers.

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this forum is the right one to post to, but I thought I'd give it a try. I just had a small house build on a .7 acre lot that slopes down to a cove on a lake. I wanted the house to be surrounded by woods (the lot was covered with hardwoods), but due to a myriad of building problems, I ended up with a big back yard. It needed to be planted with something to prevent erosion so I told my builders I wanted to plant wildflowers. They said ok, but purchased Crown Vetch, which I immediately vetoed. I bought wildflower seeds online and they proceeded to plant them, but they covered the steeper half of the backyard with hay, seeds and all. Now, part of my backyard is a growing hayfield and the other half has wonderful wildflowers coming up.

Any suggestions about what I can do with the hay? It's too steep to mow, but I can use a weedeater on it, if necessary.

Thanks for any help.
