Plants for Difficult Places

My Backyard is overlooked by a 6 story building

Does anyone have a suggestion for what to plant that will screen at least 50 ft. high and 25 wide? It is on the southern edge of my property, shaded by the building and a large oak 30 ft. to the west. It is also within five ft. of a retaining wall ( there's an 8 ft. drop behind my yard).

Any help would really be appreciated.

Will a dawn redwood grow in your area? They are deciduous, though.

What about a concolor fir???

Just plant them in two stagger rows, or a row which looks more like drifts.
