Dip next to foundation

And no, that's not me standing next to the house! :)

The house is 2/3 on foundation and the other 1/3 on slab. Where it changes from one to the other, the ground slopes down to the flat crawlspace area under the house; sinks about 2-3 feet over 8' distance or so. The front porch is built over part of this 'gap'.

How can I fill in next to the house, or re-grade the rest of the yard, so it's reasonably landscape-able?

I have roses planted around the porch I'll happily move if it will help, but short of making a water feature with a narrow walkway next to the house, I can't come up with much.

Help?!?

I've seen them put retaining walls in sloping spaces to turn it into flat steps which could be landscaped. I've never done it myself, but it was on one of those yard fixing shows on the hgtv channel.

are you needing stairs? these are great for a do it yourself project. they're concrete blocks and you can fill them with dirt and mulch on top (which is what i did) or brick or whatever. very, very simple. i got mine at menards. lmk!
