Plants for Difficult Places

Clay and a pond

I have a natural pond on my property, and I would like to plant trees that are fast growers, tall and full, to make the pond more private. I have clay ground, so I need a hardy tree, that likes water but does not need good drainage. I am in Minnesota, as well. Thanks!

I'm not from around there- so all I can suggest is that you go drive around, and see what is nice growing around other people's ponds- aren't there like 1000 lakes in Minnesota? I'm sure someone has just the effect that you're looking for.

Does willow grow in your area? I think of weeping willow. You've probably already planted.
