How many trees do you have to protect?

The deer in my neighborhood finally hit critical mass, meaning that they over-populated to the point that they are already foraging for foods they wouldn't ordinarily eat unless desperate -- that typically happens in February, but ours started this in late August.

Here's what I did:

I took 32" high wire edging fence from Lowe's (about 10ft in length, I think).

I LAID this wire down flat on the ground in front of the area where I did not want them. They do not like to walk over wire. They can get caught up in the wire and bend it, but I've never had to "rescue" one.

I've been researching "Hunters for the Hungry" to see if there's a way to convince my neighborhood to allow bow hunting to thin the herd and donate a portion of the meat to the Food Bank. There is a partnership here with the Wildlife agency. The meat is packed by a professional meat packer before donating to the Food Bank.
