So far, I've started annual statice, gomphrena, ammobium, Lonas annua (Stokes calls this "golden ageratum'), hare's tail grass and craspedia. I'll also start helichrysum, safflower, bachelor's buttons, cinnamon basil, sweet annie, Blue Bedder salvia, Flamingo Feather and Amazon celosia, along with several cristata types and small numbers of Hairy Balls milkweed, cotton and pumpkin peppers. Will do several types of amaranthus, including Hot Biscuit and a Mexican grain type that looks interesting. Texas Black and mixed red shades of broom corn. Will grow Pomme d'Or, a winter squash that dries like a gourd. We dry small ball dahlias in the microwave and press violas and miniature daffodils. We've had pretty good luck drying Teddy Bear and Giant Sungold sunflowers and will try Sunbright Supreme this year.

I'm scaling back this year with the economy being in the shape it is, but I will still grow some pumpkin peppers, blue salvia and small gourds.
