Help identify a curly willow

(I just posted this same message as a reply to another message..sorry for the duplication)

I don't know which forum to post this too...
Have any of you heard of a sand pail (pale?) willow? I work at a college that has huge containers places all around the courtyard outside. They recently filled them with pansies and then in the middle of the containers they placed pussy willow stalks. In a few of the containers, however, they put weirder, cooler, pussy willow type cuttings, but they are curly and kind of gnarly stems. The have an asian type of feel about them. I asked the operations department what they were called, and was told sandpail (sp) willow?????
Help me!

This may be cuttings from the Salix in the link below. All willows have fuzzy buds but some are more colorful/prominent than others. The "sandpail" isn't familiar to me but sounds like a nickname given because ALL willows will root quickly and easily in damp sand.

If it were me I'd go back to the greenhouse or plant dept. and beg for a stem or two. Actually those stuck in the pots will probably be tossed when a change of plants is made in the pots...and probably already well rooted. josh

Here is a link that might be useful: Curly Willow
