Herbarium glue?

Posted by Cricket82 5a IL (My Page) on

I have been trying to figure out what kind of herbarium glue I should use for a collection of pressed plants I am assembling for my college. Does anyone have any recommendations, or know of where I could find some (either online or at an actual store)?

Thanks!

Cricket

Cricket, Here's a site I found recently...scroll down to "mounting". The "waterbased woodworking adhesive" would be Elmer's Glue, which I've used for dried arrangement/collage work and like because it can be easily thinned with water, is cheap and easily available. josh

Just wanted to add one more reference. Unfortunately they don't specify what type glue is used but if I were preparing a herbarium I'd email them for info on what they use.

I envy you...I love the old herbarium sheets and am so fortunate that I can now find them online. Good luck with your work. josh

And here's a site that offers an assortment of herbarium adhesives:

Thanks Josh and Neil! Looks like the Herbarium Supply Company actually sells the type of glue used by the Missouri Botanical Garden, so that works out great. I visited the Botanical Garden once several years ago, before I really knew I was this interested in plants and preservation, and even then it was a lot of fun and most impressive.

I really appreciate your help! Thanks again!
