The reason for my user name, is an amazing product that allows my wife and myself to easily dry most flower, but the orchids and lilies have too pithy of a texture even for this product--sorry

I've dipped flowers in wax a few times. It's time consuming but worth it. I've done sweetpeas, zinnas and roses along with others.

I used bees wax mixed with parrafin wax in a double boiler. 1part to 3 part . Recently I grabbed and old slow cooker for just this purpose. The flowers I've done have lasted over a year. I don't know beyond that as I sold them. There doesn't seem to be too much info out there on this.

Keep the temp low. test a petal. and use a clean nail or a large needle to sepertae the petals where needed. hang upside down to let set up.

thumbfarmerlady, are you dipping fresh flowers or flowers that are already dried? I understood littleonefb's question as asking about preserving a fresh Orchid lei, but I've never heard of wax dipping as a way to preserve fresh flowers beyond a couple of weeks.

If you're dipping dried flowers, you can add some mineral oil to thin your wax before dipping, you get a thinner coat of wax and it looks nicer.
