Is This Tansy?

I've never grown tansy. We bought an abandoned flower farm, and I thought these were some sort of fern, but now they're covered in yellow flowers. I think these are tansy, but if someone could confirm, I'd really appreciate it!

RE: Is This Tansy?

Yes, it's tansy. They can be invasive in some areas, spreading aggressively by seed as well as underground runners. If you pick the flowers, the seeds won't be a problem. In my clay soil, they don't compete well against grass, but in sandy soils they do spread. Hope you get some good use out of them!

RE: Is This Tansy?

Thank you!! They have definitely spread over one bed, so I'm trying drying the flowers this year.

RE: Is This Tansy?

Yes, first two are definitely Tansy. You probably don't want it IN your garden, or else be sure to dead head it. To dry, pick the blooms when they first began opening and just hang them, they dry nicely. It is considered a bad weed in most areas. I have to agree that it is pretty.
