I'm deciding on colleges and I don’t know what I’m supposed to major in to own a flower shop. I'm not an idiot, but I do need help.

Horticulture, specifically floral design. Exterior landscape design courses are also helpful, as are art history courses, color theory, and especially interior plantscaping. It would be extremely beneficial to get some actual work experience in a floral shop, as reputation is everything. Initially this is not a high-paying field, so do your homework, and create a niche with a product/service mix that is in demand in your area. Good luck!

Also, make sure you take some basic business classes. That probably sounds yucky but you really need a few of those under your belt. Good luck, Teresa

At my school we have a major called "Plant, Soil & Insect Sciences". We can also concentrate in Horticulture, which is what I'm doing! Also we have o pick a business or science focus, so I chose Business. Good Luck!~
