Drying Sunflowers

Posted by susandonb (My Page) on

Hi, I saw a thread dated '04 on this topic and I have a question. The instructions taled about drying them in Borax and the person explaining how to do this said, "be sure the flowers are dry before starting" If I dry them on the plant the petals fall off. Does this mean just topical dryness? In other words, no visible moisture on them?

Thanks,
Susan

RE: Drying Sunflowers

Hi, Susan. Yes, they are referring to surface moisture. Usually, if you pick after 10 am or so, the flowers will be dry enough.
