I'd definitely try. Maybe pick a few of the still-green unripe pods and also a few of the darker brown. Place on a rack or if you leave on stem stand in jar. Even if they all turn brown or crack open might still be an interesting pod, like the Cotton boll or Milkweed pod.

Found out the plant is a cocklebur. After reading about it on the internet, I'd rather not have any of the seeds find their way into the yard. I did save quite a few of the pods on the end of the branches for drying. They are so unique, but I'll take care none are thrown away indiscriminately.

I just googled "cocklebur" and agree the pods are interesting and beautiful...sort of like my Castorbean and Pokesalad seedpods, though...really scary poisonous plants. Glad you identified it...you're right...not something you'd welome to your garden. josh
