unknown plant

I have a mystery plant growing in the brush near our yard. It's very large, 4' with large lobed leaves that are rough like sandpaper. At the end of the branches are these beautiful stems of chartreuse egg shaped, very prickly, seed pods. It doesn't seem to bloom. Eventually the seed pods turn brown and fall to the ground. It's not a plant I would want in the yard, but I was wondering if I could dry the pods? Any help out there?
