Can Thistle (Cirsium) Be Used Decoratively?

I saw some beautiful plants (bull thistle?)growing along the road near my home. They were covered in butterflies.

I am just learning to dry flowers for crafts and I was wondering if these could be used for dried flower wreaths? If so, how do I prepare them? They were very prickly and looked dry already.

I sure wish it could. I have several acres of it that I have failed to eradicate.
It is so beautiful but so thorny.
