How to dry curly willow?

Posted by mlbhubbard (My Page) on

I have a curly willow in my back yard and would like to dry some of the branches. I recently pruned the tree, and have the cut branches drying. Is there anything I need to do to them besides let them completely dry? I wasn't sure if they needed to be sealed or anything. Also, do people usually paint or stain them? I noticed that the branches seem to turn black when dried.

Thanks for any help!

I think you could stain or paint but most seems to be sold as is. I've even read of florists using in an arrangement and the customer later reported that the curly willow had put out roots, so it is often used fresh right off the tree. Just your preference. josh
