Made a set of Great Coasters

They turned out so well and I am just so pleased with them, I thought I would share.

I bought a couple of smooth lengths of bass wood; 4" wide and 1/8" thick and cut them into 4" squares. Sanded them smooth and stained them.

Then I glued on my pressed flowers with modge-podge and covered them with 3 coats of polyurathane, sanding lightly between coats. I let them dry for a week to make sure that the polyurathane was good and hard then I glued brown felt to the bottom to keep them from sliding or scratching furnature.

I have been using them for a month now. Liquid beads up on it and does not seem to affect the finish. They look and work great!

I think I am going to make a few sets for gifts. I want to design some type of simple container for them using the same method and materials. I'm thinking of something with a bottom, 3 sides and no top. Easy to remove and replace the coasters.

Kay.
