| Hi Ro, The simplest way to dry/press leaves is to stick them between pages of an old telephone directory or just a paperback book, one to every 4-5 pages. Put some more books on top for weight to flatten leaves. Check after 4-5 days and most leaves will be dry (heavier thicker leaves may take a few more days). Careful when removing...some may be fragile. Use tiny bits of Elmer's Glue to attach to your background. I wouldn't use hairspray on the leaves....it might absorb moisture. I don't use any fixative and some leaves hold color for years, others fade a bit over time while some darken...but most still hold their beauty. Just dry a large assortment as some will turn out well, others turn brown as they dry or shatter easily. Have fun...fern fronds and grass seedheads are attractive, too, and can be dried the same way. Good luck. josh |
