Large cockscomb????

On my way to work I pass a house that has a row of the most gorgeous cockscomb. The plants look to be 2 to 3 feet tall and are staked. They are a deep red and are probably 8 to 10 inches across. Can someone suggest what variety this might be? And possibly a source? I am starting to add everlastings to my beds and would love to try these. Thanks in advance........Ellen

It's most likely a variety called Fireglow. It's an All America Winner. Stokes is one source, and they also sell things like statice and strawflowers in single-color packets as well as mixes. In Stokes's catalog, choose "annuals" then "Celosia cristata" then "tall" to get to a description.

Here is a link that might be useful: Stokes

They could be crista, bombay, enterprise, krume, or cramer's. They should be going to seed by now. Stop and ask to harvest a few seed or buy some flowers.
