hi
this is my first post!

ive been drying roses my boyfriend has given me over the two years weve been dating by hanging them. i was wondering, are there any other things i could/should do to further preserve them?

i am also excited to dry some of the fall boquet he just sent me from the middle east. well, the flowers are from the US, but he is overseas...

You can spray them lightly with unscented hairspray. (Best to do this outside.) You don't really want to form a coat over them, just give them a little extra help staying in one piece.

You can use clear laquer paint spray. Use outdoors.

Hang them upside down and keep them out of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight is the worst enemy of dried flowers. To clean just use a hairdryer on low. Good luck!

i think thats awesome that your boyfriend would send you flowers while hes in Iraq! He sounds like a keeper!
my own hubby wouldnt think of such a thing and hes right here! < laughing >

New to the forums so I don't know what everyone else does but I've found great success drying roses in kitty litter (it keeps the shape and the color)... probably the only one that does, but it works... I also hang roses upside down and out of the light because MBVG is right, the light will kill the color you've managed maintain...
