rain water collecting

I have a new rainwater collection system that is working well. A friend helped me and did the major labor. Almost everything except the gutters is used and recycled. The big tank is 1000 ltr. and the smaller one is 200 gal. We have flexible drains coming into the top of each. Screening was put on the open hole where the drain goes into the tank to keep out mosquitos. These tanks were elevated so that a hose could be attached to the added faucet at the bottom of each tank. There is reasonable pressure. These are filled by the rain running off a roof of a small shed and were filled before all this rain we have been having. Now the excess rainwater runs over.

I hope this will last through spring when I am forever turning on and off the water for potting and starting plants.

My other rainwater saving adventure - 6 swales in various places is also working well and they have been filled and emptied several times in the last few weeks.
