Read an interesting article on desertification from the Environmenal News Network web this morning.

After reading this and taking a tour of the short-grass prairie in northern Colorado last week, I'm so glad I don't live out west.

That is a grim message, indeed. "Even the sagebrush is dieing."! That's what we see in this area.
Here on the Navajo reservation in Arizona, the effects of the drought are combined with severe overgrazing to produce Sahah-like conditions over a wide area. We see vast areas with just a few dead twigs. The top soil is long gone, blown away in severe dust storms.
