We received about 3/4 an an inch in the past 48 hours ... I am grateful for what we got, but I could certainly stand a few more weeks of rainy weather.

We're in eastern PA along the Delaware, and the earlier supposed "all day" rain just fizzled, just as you said, but come 8:30 - BAM! Huge storm and we supposedly got an inch of rain. Hope you did, too!

About a year ago, I heard a meteorologist explain why the weather around here is so hard to predict. You be the judge as to whether or not he was just trying to cover his behind. Here goes: The mid-Atlantic area has mountains on its west side, but has the ocean on its east. The chance of a storm making it over the Appalachians without breaking up is not that high. In the meantime, we have pressures/fronts coming up from the South and in from the ocean. Makes for a lot of guess work and "scattered showers".

DawnStorm - your post does make sense. Puts us in the rain shadow of the Kittatinny range of the Appalachians. Our heaviest rains do come up from the south.
