Water the bugs as well as the birds

In addition to my bird bath, I keep a shallow saucer of water on the ground. The water will help to sustain the beneficial insects in your garden. I also place small stones in the saucer so that the bugs have places to stand when they're taking a drink.

think I'd rather wish our cockroach's die from thirst ;)

they attack me more often outdoors than the mosquito's do
