Still bone dry in spite of little rain!

We had a nice [very brief] downpour last night... however, it's still bone dry. I dug some potatoes - they'd all died off from the scorching heat -- today and the ground was as hard as a rock!

Some of the lawn is greening back up....but, others still brittle and burned brown where the rain didn't hit such as under the trees.

The humidity is still unbearable out of doors! I'm commencing to wonder when will it ever end?

Picked some very nice wild Blackberries --- in amongst the woodlands, but those along the edges are dried up.

    Hi Jade,

I am in SE PA and no rain since God knows when and at 40 days of plus 90 degree temps. I harvested 2 bushels of potatoes on Saturday and the key to getting good ones, in my opinion, was straw mulch. It was piled about 16 inches high around the plants and when I removed it to pull the potatoes the straw was still wet underneath. Maybe it will help you out for next year's crop.
