Water saving sprinkler controllers

As most of you know, California is continuing to suffer from lack of rainfall. Purchased my first "smart" sprinkler controller unit in August that my landscaper recommended, called Cyber-Rain. I actually replaced my Rainbird dial controller in about 10 minutes and have been saving a large amount on my water bill consistently each month. This thing actually tracks the weather via the internet and constantly updates my system. This thing rocks! Does anyone else have experience with such a system?

These smart irrigation controllers do work, and I've heard of a lot of people that seem to like their new smart systems.

The attached link shows how a smart system can help conserve water.

The system in the link below is fairly cost efficient, though requires always on internet access. Most of the savings are derived from seasonal setbacks. It works without having to keep a computer running full time and you can access and change your schedule from any browser. Most hobbyist gardeners can set up and maintain the schedules themselves.

Also, it looks like a lot of drought restrictions will limit irrigation to certain day or two of the week (depending on the local water district), and so if anyone is looking at a smart irrigation system make sure this type of schedule is easy to setup.

FYI, have fun.
