Do you know a nursery in Chicagoland that sells Sea Buckthorn?

I want to buy Sea Buckthorn. But don't want to do a mail order. I live in Chicagoland area. I am looking for a nursery in Illinois that sells Sea Buckthorn plants. Does anybody know of a place?

No, sorry, I don't. But I do have several growing. You need females and a male. These thorny plants have also become somewhat invasive, spreading by underground runners. I've never gotten many berries off them and it took four years to get what I do have.

I'm thinking of ripping them out. They're between the sidewalk and the street, so there are a number of reasons why they aren't producing well. However, I certainly don't want them any place else.

Let me know, if you can, how you make out.

You can't buy it in Chicagoland because it's an invasive. We spent days and days each season trying to control buckthorn. Now we live in NJ and are battling invasive barberry & euonymus.

Sea buckthorn is definitely very invasive. I bought some sick plants from a nursery in Rockford, Illinois a year ago. I knew they were sick, but nobody else had it in stock. They had mold from improper watering. So since then all of the plants died because their bark separated from their trunks. But every one of them had healthy new runners popping up from the ground. So I pulled the old plants out, and now the new runners are doing very good after I trimmed them and left the strongest ones. I am not expecting berries for another 4 years. I wish I could find someone who sells fresh berries or has a pick-your-own farm in Chicagoland.
