Winter.....Containers?

| Can I leave the fruit trees in the container and leave them sitting out thru the winter? Do I prune them and cover them with straw or what? |

Are these trees that you didn't get a chance to plant? I don't leave anything unprotected in containers, I trench them in and mulch heavily or place in a sheltered spot and mulch heavily.
