Help me find a front yard edible

In my front yard, I have a window that needs something planted in front of it. It would be great if I could add an edible plant. Here are my criteria:

1. Can't grow above the window or must tolerate trimming to window level

2. Must look nice enough for sub division front yard

3. Zone 4, Iowa, front of house faces East

I will try and post a picture of where I am talking about. I have ordered blackberries, raspberries and blueberries. Would any of these work, or do you have any other suggestions.
Thanks in advance,
ali

Blueberries would probably work. They are attractive year round. You need to make sure you have acidic soil.

Blackberries will want to grow much taller and look a mess. Raspberries probably wouldn't look so hot either and you'd put a damper on production if you tried to keep them pruned that low.

Thanks for the response! Do you think blueberries would do ok with the limited amount of sun that this area gets? It only gets sun until noon. I might just have to put a non fruiting bush there.

Thanks again,
ali

Aronia berries might do better with the limited sun. I think One Green World has a cultivar that is supposed to grow shorter too.

They have really nice foliage in the fall and are loaded with fruit in the summer.

Thanks for the suggestion. Aronia looks like a great solution...I put in an order for 5 bushes from One Green World.

Thanks
