Can you plant in non-edible plant next to edible plants??

I came across this image today and was thinking to do similar thing to side of my balcony, but I am also planning to turn my balcony into a container garden this year.

Is it safe to plant non-edible climber plants next to edible plants?

The answer is ... It depends, but it is probably safe. The *only* possible concern is whether they are going to be growing in the same soil.

If you are going to have the edibles in separate containers, and separate soil, from your nonedibles, then it is absolutely no problem at all.

If you are going to grow edibles in the same pots as 'tropical houseplants', then you will want to research more about specific plants, and their characteristics.

Keep the food in a separate pot from the pretties, and you don't have to worry at all.
