At least you know the volunteers are sturdy plants that don't need coddling. Lucky ones too, lol.

The root suckers can just be cut out. They won't help the plant. But the seedings.... I do understand.

But you can't save them all. "A weed is a plant in the wrong place."

Apple volunteers are the main thing I'm saving, because I want them for rootstock when I start grafting. I also have saved pears and apricots for the same reason. But at some point, just don't have room for all them. Its easier collecting the seed and growing in my nursery, than trying to dig up volunteers everywhere for me.

It's really tough to pass up a volunteer, unless it's a palm tree. Those are weeds here! Everywhere you look!

BUT, I have some little baby grapevines, figs, and pomegranates and I am going to get creative with them. I am going to try braiding a few to make a large trunk in a container. Or planting 2 or 3 so close in a container, smashing them together with planting ties, and hope they fuse into one.
