The leaves are too. And according to the people on this forum, the leaves are stronger flavored. I tasted some leaves last month. still waiting for blooms to show up....

All parts are edible and make a wonderful spicy addition to any salad. The seeds can even be pickled in a fashion similar to capers.

Enjoy

Leaves can be used whole or sliced/chopped & added to salads, or used in place of lettuce on a burger or sandwich.

Flowers make lovely salad/plate garnishes, & can also be filled/stuffed with your favorite herbed cheese mixture for a lovely canape.

The leaves taste peppery. Very nice in salads. Flowers are milder, almost melting. Easy to grow, yummy plants.

I found the seeds to taste like those dried Japanese peas

the ones coated with Wasabi powder that salerymen snarf like mad. Hot and crunchy and very good. The flowers make nummy sandwiches. I have not tried the leaves; I would assume one goes for the younger tenderer ones.

The leaves are my favorite part for eating. I make sure that I have at least one nasturtium planted in very rich soil so that it produces more (and larger) leaves than flowers.

I especially like stuffed leaves. If you are interested, I will put my method in the recipe form. Carmellia

Carmellia,

oh what a good idea!

So, if anyone is still here, how do you stuff nasturtium leaves?

Thank you for letting us know that the leaves are edible; around here it gets to hot for the nasturtiums to grow well, but if the leaves are edible that might be worth something!
