Late Rhubarb Transplant

Scott Schluter

Hi,

I received a large rhubarb plant a few days ago. It wasn't my choice to do a transplant late spring but this is when someone gave it to me. The whole pile has about a half dozen thick stocks, some smaller stalks, and is in 3 separate clumps (it looks like the main root broke into a few pieces). I dug a hole, filled it with compost, then put the clumps in. It has been mostly rainy days since then. The stalks have not perked up yet. Should I cut back most or all of the large stocks? Small stalks? Leave it be?

TIA
