Goumi 'Sweet Scarlet' (Eleagnus multiflora)

What exactly does the fruit of Goumi taste like? I imagine all varieties are similar in taste. What I have acquired is the variety 'Sweet Scarlet,' which I assume essentially tases like all the others. Thank you.

To add a few things from my neck of the woods:

1. Robins LOVE them. You have to protect them or lose them.
2. Beautiful and manageable. Nice ornamental, at the least.
3. I thought they were a slightly sour cherry. (Maybe my tastebuds aren't sophisticated enough!) I chewed 6-8, spit out the seeds and then put the pulp in a 7-up with a twist of lime. Just like a cherry limeade.
