Currant Bushes - Planting

| I have to decide where to plant my red currant bushes and would love some opinions. The location I am favoring is an area that is moss covered and home of my holly bushes and high bush blueberries. The soil is moist, filtered morning and mid day sun with afternoon direct sun. Existing planting are doing very well there. Do you think my currants will find it a suitable home? Thanks. Steve |

| Red Currants do very well in partial shade with heavy fruiting. I have had Red Currants in part sun, part shade for many, many years. |

Currants will tolerate some shade but not wet soil. If area is covered with moss, it should be pretty wet constantly. I would create raised beds to improve the drenage and don't plant bushes too close to each other to improve air circulation and prevent mold on berries.
