Osmanthus fruit edible or not?

harvestingfilth

I just passed an old stand of Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Variegatus', loaded with ripe fruit and dropping it. Anybody know if the fruit is edible or not? They look like tiny prunes or blue-black olives, about 1/2" long.

I have been searching for information, but it seems as if this plant rarely sets fruit so there is not much info out there about it...

Thanks,

Carrie
