Corylus avellana 'Red Majestic'

I'm looking for a US source for this Red Contorted Hazel, which is supposed to pollinate Purple-Leaf Filbert. The only resource I've found, http://www.nuttrees.net/, is closed while the owner does a tour in Iraq.

Can anyone help?

I saw it listed in the just-released 'Fall Fling' catalog supplement from Roslyn Nursery in New York. Their phone number is 631-643-9347; a link to their web site is below. Hope that helps!

It is also available from Wayside Gardens (mail order/ internet site). Just had one planted from Midland Landscape (in Chicago area) to replace my regular contorta whcih died from transplant last year. The leaves are absolutely beautiful -- it really is an improvement to the regular contorta. Good luck!

Purpleleaf filberts (there is more than one kind) don't have to be pollinated by this new hybrid to produce nuts, of course. You can get some nuts even from an isolated specimen.
