Russian olive, Elaeagnus and other garden thuds!

Kudos to Horticulture magazine for writing an article about the invasive nature of the Elaeagnus species. It was published in this month October/November 2006 issue and is well worth reading. I have known for several years that Russian olive and its relatives are a problem here in California and I cringe every time I read a recommendation to plant it. Finally in print in a popular magazine not just a professional ecology journal people are being warned. Please consider this before planting or recommending any Elaeagnus species (Russian olive, Autumn Olive, etc.) If you know of any other edible plants that should be left out of the garden because of invasive tendency please post it here! Thanks

Wineberry is a non-native that gets invasive.
