paw paws not blossoming

I have a pair of 3-yr-old paw paw trees which are in ground. They seem to be quite healthy, but are only about 2 ft. tall after all this time. The problem is that I've never gotten blossoms. Are they still too immature? I typically fertilize with a water-solluble Miracle-gro. (24-8-16)2 or 3 times during the growing season. Any ideas about what I might be doing/not doing wrong?

My pawpaws didn't start blooming til 4 years (and that was the grafted ones) the seedling ones haven't bloomed and this is their 5th year.

There is a way to look at the twigs (after leaf fall) and see if buds are there for next spring. Look for round buds (the pointed ones will only produce leaves).

Hi Chills,
Thanks for the encouragement. So, perhaps mine are not so off-track as I thought. And I will be watching for buds now that they are losing their leaves. May I ask what do you use for fertilizer and how often do you apply it?
