'Golden Elder'

I want to know if the berries on this elderberry are edible. It bears dark red fruit clusters, which from a distance look black. Unlike the blue elderberries, it has no large seeds in the fruit. The leaves are smaller, with five leaves on each stem. The bush was labeled "golden elder" with no latin name.

Hi Most elderberries are edible and are used to make herbal tea,Jams and wine just as the Black elderberry is used. Some varieties are better than others and some produce bigger berries that are tastier. I think though it has been miss labled as I believe it is suppose to be a light yellow or golden in color and not red. I could be wrong on this, but I believe that there is a red variety that is call by another name.

I don't think you should eat the red ones. Here is a link with more info.
