I was just wondering how quickly honeyberries grow. I was thinking about putting a variety that only grows to 4-5 feet in a flowerbed in the front of my house.

Mine grew fairly fast -- attained mature size in about 3 years, more or less. I personally really like this fruit. I planted two kinds initially about six or 8 years ago, and I planted two new ones last year. They make very good pies, jam, etc., and I really appreciate how early they are, even before the strawberries ripen.

awesome. I'm slowly trying to plant replace everything in my yard, except the grass, with a shrub or ground cover that is edible or produces some sort of edible fruit. What size did you buy yours at? Did they produce anything the first year? The two things that really got me looking at this shrub are the quick growth rate and the tasty edible blueberry like berries. I'm not sure why, but the idea of attractive landscape I can eat is appealing to me. I guess it has something to do with the fact that I like things that have form as a secondary attribute to function; which is probably why I plan on planting a lot of fruit trees on the slope at the back of my yard that has little function, but making more grass to cut.
