Indian (Tropical) Almond

We have an Indian Almond tree and I am curious how in the world to get the almond out. I also read the fruit is edible, what color should the fruit be; I have read it should be redish brown but mine never gets to that color it's more of a deep yucky yellow.

| If you could post a botanical name for that plant it might be more helpful to others. Common names can be confusing. |
