| Does anyone want a book called All About Miniature Plants and Gardens, indoors and outdoors, by Brenice Brilmayer, 1963 The book jacket isn't in the vest shape ,but the rest is good. Nes |
| Greylady , thanks for starting this new thread . I dont mind if some slats are out of the miniblind I would still love to have it please. I am also interested in your iris please. The yogurt containers, there are 8 little individual ones and right now I have 3 650 gram ones. Not a whack of them cuz I only thought about saving them for Bev when we started posting here for the swap :0 but if you can use them , that would be great otherwise they head to the dump next time I go and I hate throwing that kind of thing out ( never breaks down in the landfill) Nes if noone wants to do a trade for the book right now , and if you really want to find a home for it , you can always bring the book and put it in the gamblers circle . It might get a taker there . If not then you just have to bring it home again . Blueiris , were you able to get in touch with Jeff, BarbinLondon, Bill1 ? I know Bill1 moved to a new home so maybe he figures he has nothing to trade , but Bill1 I am sure some of us have extras and you would be welcome to take some home to put in your new gardens ( no trade necessary) Just an FYI. Rosco_p - have you traded away your yellow calla yet ? If not I would love to trade for it . Let me know what you might like in trade please (assuming it hasnt already found a new home.) Thanks |

I am sorry but the trade will have to be scrapped. I was going to re-plant the seeds that I have left,(in another envelope--the original one), but they would be far too small by the swap |

- Posted by greylady-gardener 6 (My Page) on Tue, May 15, 12 at 20:24
| not sure what they are. :-) They sprouted fairly quickly and got tall and skinny (about an inch) right away. They are thin. The blue dragon that sprouted before, were shorter and the first little leaves were round and thick looking. these are taller and the first little leaves are tiny. I was hoping the true leaves would emerge quickly with this warm weather we are having, and I would have a better idea. I will keep you posted! haha :-) |

| Hello all, Just getting caught up after my 'Guns and Roses' trip to see the tulips in Holland, WWI sites, Monet's garden at Giverny, etc. It was a trip of a lifetime!! Nes - do you have any more high bush cranberry babies for some prickly pear? Flowergirl - I have a piece of summer blooming blue monkshood - would you be interested in it for some of your Ruffled Velvet bigger purple Siberian iris? I'll look around more tomorrow and see what else is available to tempt you since I still owe you three other trades. Greylady - I sure hope something on my list fits the bill, I'd love some of your winter sown convolvulus Ensign Mixed, and your intermediate height purple/yellow iris. Signet - Anything of mine that you would like in trade for daylily Trahlyta? (If it hasn't set scapes yet)? Gardeng8 - do you have any more cherry brandy rudbeckia babies? if you do what can I offer you for it? Great to get back into trading, I've missed you guys! Two weeks largely without any computer access is a strange thing, only sent 2 emails, and never checked FB or GW. Tomorrow I start potting things up in earnest. While I was away a good friend came by twice to keep houseplants, cuttings and pots outside watered, Matt is not so reliable about watering... |

| Wow you lucky lucky girl! How awesome a trip that is ! My dream trip is to go to Britain and travel and see the English cottage gardens in the spring. Probably will never happen so I keep trying to recreate them here LOL! Poor Matt had to stay home ? ......Glad you are home safe and had a marvelous time. When you get a minute can you review my trade list with you above. I feel like I am missing some things . I will pot up a df of trahlyta for you . I am redoing my big gardens and while doing it (it is a major major job let me tell you !) , I hacked off a part of a clump of Trahlyta and it sat out of the ground and I forgot that I meant to put it in the kiddie pool ...Poor thing ... and it has been so dry. I have now plunked it in water so should start to pick up and be ok between now and the swap. Just heard from Jeff and we have started to work a trade already LOL! Greylady, if you have some tricolor ensign in place of the dragon thingys that would work for me. Gardeng8 , I also hacked of a clump of my historic mauve iris while redoing this garden so can supply you with some no problem at all . Flowergirl , can I have a piece of your Autumn Red daylily. | Heather: I am glad that you were able to go and enjoy your "trip of a lifetime" amidst the "call" of spring gardening here. I am sure the landscapes and colours were amazing! Prior to your trip you had mentioned that you were attempting to root some Clematis and we made some trades based on a good outcome. Have you had any success with these? ...or do we need to rework the trade? Thanks. Ross. |
| Gardeng8: Carol I was just looking back over my list and I see that we had earlier made a trade for your Blue Pin Cushion Flower for a wine red dahlia. Yesterday we made a trade for your Ligularia and a wine red dahlia. Did you want two of those or would you like a piece of my white dinner plate dahlia instead? Just checking in case you hadn't noticed the duplication. Thanks. Please let me know. Ross. |
| Hi Ross, Well, the sources I read weren't wrong, taking cuttings of clematis is a numbers game. I planted about 20, and am now down to 6 1/2, with two that look quite good and the others with yellow spots on their leaves. Fingers crossed that they perk up, but I'll cautiously say we can go ahead with those trades! Thanks, Heather/BlueIris3 |

| heather, do you still have some of the trailing plum coleus left? If so I would like that in trade for the iris. I will through in the convulvulus seedlings because the WS blue dragon seedlings are looking puny. I am hoping that they bulk up in the next couple of weeks. I still don't have mine in the ground, but I think when they go in, they will take off like most things do. |

| BlueIris Thanks for going thru and posting your copy of the list . I appreciate it very much ! Good news , it looks like a couple of the Hakuro Nishiki cuttings have rooted . Now hopefully they will continue to set roots and get stronger over the next couple of weeks . so that swap looks tentatively like a go . I have been waffling over the swap of the daylily double orange. Is The double orange daylily Kwanza or Kwanza flore pleno ? by any chance ( did you get it at the Springbank swap before ? )Basically H. fulva 'Kwanso' is a double with 12 petals and 'Flore Pleno' is a triple with 18 petals. If it is ,can we cancel that swap ? I definitely dont need it I have so much of it here its not funny. If however it is something else then I am game to trade for it . there is a picture here of kwanza if you scroll down the page http://www.angelfire.com/ky2/mamabird/flowers1.html You are still more than welcome to the echinops blue if you want it . Maybe we could trade for the monkshood bicolor? or your hieracium spilophaeum Leopard burgundy/green variegated leaves Sorry to do this but I REALLY REALLY dont need more Kwanza or Kwanza flore pleno here . I am inundated with it .
Gardeng8 Looking at your trade list I was wondering if I could ask for some beebalm -light purple . I could trade you a small division of Pink beebalm in exchange. I can only do a small trade as this is my plant's first full season in my gardens so would only expect a small division in return if you are willing . Also your Nellie Moser clematis ....is it gone ? I am not sure what I can trade you for this if it hasnt already been scooped up but I will get back to you once I know if it is available or not . Running thru the gardens trying to stay ahead of the wild bitter winds , I presently have available : Artemisia Oriental Limelight Signet |

| Is there something on my list that you would like to add to the trade for blue dragon? The seedlings will be fine once in the ground I am sure, but right now they do look rather puny, so I don't want you to see them and be surprised. :-) |

| SIGNET: Yes, you certainly can have daylily 'Autumn Red'. Do you have more primrose cerise with yellow eye available? BLUEIRIS: Good to hear you had a trip of your life. I already potted up some siberian iris 'Ruffled Velvet' for you. I would love to have a summer blooming monkshood for it, thank you. I would like to try your clematis 'Elsa Spath' if there is more available. I made one cutting of one of my clematis few days ago. I guess I'm going against the odds and hoping for 100 % success. :) This is my first time trying. Is your yellow siberian iris a species one or a hybrid? GARDENG8: I'm curious about your newly planted Nelly Moser clematis seeds. Have they sprouted? I thought it is a long process to get the seed to sprout? I would love to try one if you have some available. What would you like in trade? |

| Ross can I trade you for mauve creeping phlox ? I am out of daffs for this year so I hope you can find something else that might interest you on my list Maybe you would like some of the pink phuopsis stylosa . Sort of the same kind of plant habit , with very pretty pink balls of very tiny flowers . If not , no worries. Signet |

| signet I will bring you a pot of pink lily of the valley and some seedlings of the ensign mix. |
| Hi! Flowergirl - my yellow Siberian iris is a noID pass-a-long, I don't know if it's a hybrid or not. I understand if you are not interested. I have one of the Elsa Spath clematis set aside for you, as well as the summer blooming monkshood. I still owe you a trade I think, could I interest you in some Matsumoto Violet Stripe Chinese Aster seeds? They are a half hardy annual meant for the cutting garden. It's too late for me to start them indoors, but they would give a great late season showing sown outdoors. Or is there anything else on my list that you would like? Is there something you are looking for? I'll be doing a couple trades at a nearby plant swap and could see if they have a wishful item of yours. (Woodfield this Saturday morning). Signet, I have not marked my monkshood so I couldn't guarantee you a bicolour, I'll happily give you some but it would be colour unknown. Otherwise I do have lots of mauve creeping phlox that has to go to make space for some of those cherry tomatoes that are coming my way! Greylady, I will set aside some of the coleus, but at the moment it seems kinda upright not trailing at 4 inches high. Lilac, I have a favour to ask, if you have a large enough pot would you mind potting up the Mystery Day dahlia? I'm going to try and get my cannas and dahlias planted this weekend since the long range forecast looks quite warm. No worries if you are short of pots. I'll be asking for some from the recycling bins at local nurseries, a bunch of mine went to the neighbourhood plant swap while I was away. I heard back from Barb_from_London and Bill1 who will both try to drop by. Has anyone heard from Daldak? I haven't heard from Didzgarden yet. Cheers, |

| This is the post that daldak posted on the first page She hasn't been back since so maybe she can't make it. I also e-mailed ditz and never heard back so I guess she can't make it this year. Posted by daldak 6 (My Page) on Tue, Apr 24, 12 at 22:13 Enjoyed myself immensely last year. I haven't even ventured into the flowerbeds yet this year. Has a date been confirmed? Many things on the go with our two kids that it may be near impossible to make it out this year. |
| SIGNET: I will set aside a creeping phlox for you. Do you happen to have another Primrose by any chance? If you had the cerise one with the yellow eye to go with the yellow one I already traded you for ...that would be great, but if not another yellow would be fine and if there are none left..then I will think of something else. As far as the phuopsis, i am trying to stay away from any more of the mauve colour in my main garden bed as it is predominantly that colour. Slowly changing it..but thanks for the offer. Thanks. Ross. |

| Hi again . rosco . Yes I have another cerise primrose for you . Just an fyi the phuopsis is pink not mauve but if you are not interested that is ok of course. so Blueiris . Is the double orange daylily Kwanza then ? If you are sure and only if you are sure you dont mind giving me a piece of Monkshood, I will take my chances on it being a bicolor . My odds are 50/50 ......not bad really cuz I cant really lose in the end cuz I still end up with a nice plant LOL! . I am interested in the mauve phlox and will trade you for it if you like , If you are looking for late blooms that arent yellow , I could offer you some Pink Turtleheads (Chelone obliqua) Let me know if this interests you please. If so, is there anything on my list you'd like? (Updated list in next post!) GardenG8, The tree peony cuttings aren't taking. I'm going to try again, but we're getting pretty close to the swap here, do you have a secondary choice for that trade? |

| ROSCO: Yes Please to the white dinner plate dahlia. Thanks so much! I guess I thought the reds were two different shades. (Probably the word wine got my attention!) SIGNET: I will put your name to purple beebalm and thank you for the pink beebalm. As for Nelly Moser...she hasn't sprouted yet...but, I could send a couple of seeds along if you are wanting to go that route. No trade for the seed is necessary. Lilac: Would you still have any more lupin or delph instead of the white tree peony cutting? Thanks for giving it a shot! GREYLADY: I am willing to still trade the BlueDragon as the Arizona Red gaillardia is still small too. Come on consistant warm weather! I hope that is ok? FLOWERGIRL: Yes you are right about the Nelly Moser clematis...no sign of her yet! Sorry! BlueIris: The cherry brandy rudbeckia is still so small...just babies really. I can pot one up and send it along if you wish. No trade is necessary as it is so small. Thanks everyone so far for all the great trades! |

| Hi! Signet - I'm not positive about the double orange daylily, waiting to hear back from Kari, but it is so aggressive that it probably is the fulva. Just to confirm - my Leopard hieracium for your echinops blue, my mystery monkshood for daylily Trahlyta, and mauve creeping phlox for pink turtlehead? That brings me to 88 trades! Yikes!!! And I'm still planning to pot up a few for the swap on Saturday in Woodfield... Greylady, thanks for understanding - it's really pretty with tiny leaves. Lilac, thanks for potting the dahlia up!! Flowergirl, the seeds and a French Vanilla lily are yours, I like all those trades. Gardeng8, thanks for the Cherry Brandy! I need some to warm me up before heading out to pot stuff up now :-) That or I may have to run my sweatshirt through the dryer for a few minutes - love that warm hug feeling! And the countdown is on - 16 days to the swap!!! |

| I have two trades of a tall bearded iris available. Only people who have iris borer on their irises should get these since I have that problem here. It is either 'Crystal Glow' or one I can't find a name for but looks a lot like Crystal Glow but the falls are light pink instead of lavender. I will know before the swap since both clumbs have tall scapes on them right now. They are both very reliable bloomers for me. |
| I thought this might interest you . I believe you can buy the nematodes at Ontario Growers Supply ( either the one on Adelaide South or the one on Fanshaw Park Road and Hyde Park road . Here is a link to info on using nematodes to eliminate iris borer. If you love iris and I know I do this seems to be the best way to deal with the borer. http://www.irisgarden.org/boreralternatives.html#nematodes Signet |

| Just happened to read my post from earlier today and realized I made a spelling mistake. What I meant to say was that I have a couple of Blue Siberian Iris that are small 1 STALK plants. I also have SILPHIUM (cup plant) to offer as well and a couple of BEARS BREECHES if anyone is interested. |
| Well if no one else is jumping at them , I would be interested in your blue siberian iris . Its really a matter of whether I have anything that I can tempt you with . If you had your druthers, what would you really like in trade. Pick anything . I might have it . Wont know till you ask LOL! Signet |
| Away for the weekend...will catch up with the trades when I get back. Have a great weekend everyone! |
| Hi Signet, I went to dig up some butter and sugar Siberian iris only to find that it has died back from a generous clump last year to barely 5 stalks!? Is there anything else on my list that you would like? Sorry about this. If it rebounds later this year I'll bring some to you, or maybe next year? |
| Hey no problem BlueIris , these things happen (dont I know it !) so how about some alcea rugosa (?) butter yellow hollyhock with fig leaves or downy wood mint in place of the sib. iris . Which ever one works for me . I had some downy wood mint and I moved it last year and with this non winter we had it seems I lost it unless it is still just sleeping. Signet |
| I'm hoping that you all have room for one more trader. I thought I had posted in this thread last weekend, but I can't find my post anywhere - when I searched to see if it was OK that I join you at such a late date. I've been to a couple trades a few years ago (the two the years before you all moved to Springbank Park). I dont' have a ton of "looking for" plants, but I have lots I'm willing to trade. It's nice to see a lot of the same names still participating in these exchanges! |

| Of course it is okay. you are definitely welcome to join us. Post whatever plants you are looking for--or scan our lists to see if someone is offering what you want. You probably know already if you have been reading along, but just in case, the swap is at Springbank on June 2nd at 11 a.m. (turn left just inside the main gate off Commissioner's) swap online or bring your plants for the gambler's circle. Pot luck lunch if you care to join. :-) jump right in! :-) |

Purple Coneflowers Shasta Daisys Iris - tall pale purple Iris - Dwarf - Dark Purple - double blooming (spring and fall) Iris - Orange Iris - Dark Purple (Rolling Thunder - I have only one trade of this one) Impossible Plant (Purple) Poppies - Orange Periwinkle Lily of the Valley Day Lilies - Double Tiger, Yellow early (no name) Bergenia - Pink blooms Ivy Pink Heritage Rose (Climbing - very fragrant) Chicks and Hens Chinese Lanterns Chives - standard purple and white garlic Ornamental Allium (hand sized blooms) Peonies in white (double flowers)and pink. Forget-me-not (seed and plants) Ornamental Garlic (also tastes good!) Also, have seed for trade - I'm looking specifically for a Fern Leaf Peony in white, a Brugmansia (any color but orange / peach), Firecracker plant, Ornamental Eggplant, Delosperma, Dianthus, Clivia, Hydrangeas (dinner plate or climbing - preferably in blues and purples), Climatis - any colours or shapes. |

What is Impossible plant? I can't find any information about it. And your allium, is it Purple Sensation? If it is anything else, I would be interested. Let me know, thank you. |

| Note my repeat message above . It is there because when I wrote to Flowerldy to see about a trade , I posted a link to a website that must be in competition with Gw because they advised me that I was posting spam and if I did it again I would be banned. Then they deleted my post . They might think to advise people of where and what we are not allowed to mention here before hijacking the posts . Instead they repeated my last post. DF Anyway , Flowerldy, please email me . I dont want to try to post here again so maybe we can work our trade out without the benefit of Gw. Thats assuming they dont ban me for this post . Signet |

| EMILY: Sorry, but I only have one Calla Lilly left and it is an unknown? I noticed it in it's pot today just barely coming up through the soil, left from last season and unmarked. If you want it it is yours but as far as multiples..sorry no more available. Could I interest you in a Bears Breeches or a cup plant? Please let me know. Thanks. Ross. |
| Hi Ross . How about you give Lilac the yellow cally we had arranged to trade and I take a Bears Breeches plant instead . She gets what she is interested in and I am a happy camper too. By the way, are you able to keep callas outside all winter ? I dont suppose anyone has a sea buckthorn plant or seeds to share? I am also looking for red blooms for in the garden so if you have anything let me know please. Thanks |

| Lois: Yes the cup plant will certainly give height! I would say mine are a good 6 foot tall when flowering. I don't find them a problem as being invasive..I have had them about three seasons now and I have just noticed a couple of volunteers a few feet over but the original clump has only increased by about two in that time. Easy to control and a nice looking plant. And yes if you would like one I will put one aside for you. Thanks. Ross. |

| Hi Signet, I've potted up an alcea rugosa (?) butter yellow hollyhock with fig leaves for you. My downy wood mint seems to have disappeared too. I'm half way through potting things up :-p I've been potting up other stuff for my plant sale the following week. Thank goodness for my new potting bench that Matt finished on Saturday!! Now I can do 30 pots in the time it used to take to do 10 _and_ still be able to stand up straight! Thankfully the next half of the potting up is the easy stuff. The 17 small plants from cuttings which won't take long once I get my kitchen back. Looks like it won't be so crazy hot tomorrow, and even a bit cloudy, so I can send the houseplants outside for their summer vacations! Because of the fear of lily beetles, I'll just bag the lilies the day before the swap with no dirt attached. I had hoped to get the cannas and dahlias planted this weekend, but it was too hot, and the weeds in that section of the front yard have gone nuts. WMC1 & NavyGirl01 - is their anything on my list that you would trade for a green or a non pink echinacea? I just found a Stokes blue aster as I was weeding & digging up the Yellow toadflax for Lilac. |
