Both a healing herb and a dye plant. (Da qing; Qiug dai) Contains indican and isatin B, both of which can be converted to indigo.Richters catalogue says it is"Considered antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory. Leaves and roots are effective against flu, encephalitis, measles, hepatitis, and mumps. "
