WANTED: Blue or Red Leaf Columbine

| A few years ago I saw a dwaft form of columbine growing that had rounded leaves flushed ruby. It had lavender-pink flowers, but the red leaves were the real show-stopper. I have not been able to find them in any seed catalogue, so seeds or plants would be great if there's a collector who has them. If there are any blue-leaved columbines, I would also be interested. Thank you. |

| Semiaquilegia ecalcarta is a very small plant with leaves flushed and edged with a reddish/pink tone, and the flowers are somewhat similar to what you have described. Is this possibly what you could have seen? In terms of blue leaved columbines, A. flabellata has leaves with a pronounced bluish cast to them. Neither of the above are US natives, however. |
