RE: WANTED: wanted different native american tobacco seeds

I could be mistaken, but I believe that the tobacco used in pre-Columbian North America was Nicotiana rustica. N. tobaccum was grown in the Caribean and introduced into the Virginia and the Carolinas by the colonists where it not only became a major cash crop for export to Europe but was universally adopted by the natives as well. N. rustica is a smaller plant with yellow flowers but is more potent than common tobacco.

I have an annual growing in my yard, Lobelia inflata, that has the common name Indian Tobacco, but I'm assuming that's not what you're talking about. If it is, let me know and I'd be glad to send some seeds.
