I'm always eager to hear from avid gardeners around Boston, because the climatic differences are so important and varied compared to where I first gardened. I am inside 128 and in the Mystic river drainage.
I'm a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist and work for a landscape maintenance organization. At least it's organized most of the time.

I hope that within less than a year I'll be able to give away some Liriodendron seedlings. The world around Boston is overcome with crabapples, cherries and typical Acer palmatum. The Acer don't make me want to grab my Felco saw however, except when they have been mutilated. I would also like to ban the planting of Pyrus calleryana. It seems that it is becoming possible to get Quercus coccinea which could go into many suburban sites, if not along every street.

If you want to talk or just have a comment,I manage to check my e-mail about every other day.

RE: Boston area exchange

Hi, I live in Ayer and work in Boston in Government Center.
Will be happy to correspond and or swap/trade/visit. I've gardened in Pittsburgh, PA and also Pacifica, CA. In Cal I grew artichokes and camelias. Here I have a mixed border with roses, clematis, heliopsis, marsh mallow, purple cone flower, dahlias, nasturtiums, and other pretties. I live on a pond and would like to try flowering bog plants and the confederate rose. Got any? Write or post.
