I believe they need light to germinate, so you want to just lay them on the soil and not cover them.

Most columbines do require light, but a few don't. If you have the latin name of the variety you can look it up at www.onrockgarden.com. Click on the Germination Database link at the top right.

It can take up to 3 month for them to sprout. Don't let them dry out.

Hi Knotz, Finally starting the collection? Sometimes a cold treatment helps. You can put in the fridge or wintersow outdoors in a plastic flat with a cover. Then bring to room temp. They will pop right up. Do sow on top of the soil, press on lightly. Good luck to you. That is a lot of seed! lol. Michele
