WANTED: Horrible weather forcasted for Newcastle trade

flowerfan2

They are predicting hail, snow, rain, wind, possible thunder and lightening and highs of 42 degrees for Saturday's plant swap. It's going to be miserable. Are people still planning on coming? I don't want to load up a truck load of plants and find out that there is nobody there. Jacqueline do you have a garage or someplace we can get out of the weather? Next Saturday looks beautiful weatherwise. I don't know if people might want to change days? What does everyone think? Karen

I am planning on going still, regardless of weather. The plants won't mind.

I changed my plans to next week so I could come this week.

It is up to Jackie and the folks closest to her.
    Let us know.

    It should be interesting!

    SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
    505 AM PDT FRI APR 18 2008

...UNUSUALLY COLD WEATHER EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND AND FIRST OF NEXT WEEK...

A LOW PRESSURE WEATHER SYSTEM OVER WESTERN CANADA WILL DROP DOWN
OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST THIS WEEKEND BRINGING WITH IT UNUSUALLY
COLD AIR FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. NORMAL HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS
TIME OF YEAR IN THE COLUMBIA BASIN ARE IN THE 60S. HIGH TEMPERATURES
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE UPPER 40S TO AROUND
50 DEGREES. THIS WILL BE ABOUT 15 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. RECORD LOW
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR ARE IN THE MID 40S. MOUNTAIN
TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE UPPER 20S AND 30S WHICH WILL BE 15 TO
    20 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.

THIS UNUSUALLY COLD AIR WILL ALSO LEAD TO FREEZING TEMPERATURES
OVERNIGHT THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND INTO THE FIRST OF NEXT WEEK.
CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT PLANTS...TREES AND OTHER VEGETATION FROM
    THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES.

OR SMALL SNOW PELLETS. SOME RANDOM STRIKES OF LIGHTING WILL BE
POSSIBLE FROM SHALLOW LOW TOP THUNDERSTORMS IN THIS ATMOSPHERE.

I do have a 2 car garage. We can hold the swap in there and eat in the house if it is raining. Or if you have plants that don't like the cold.

I hope it is just cold as that is easier to deal with than rain and cold.

OK, I hate to be the only wimp, but...I've got two inches of snow here right now, so I'm bowing out. All my potted plants are buried in snow, and it looks too cold and miserable. :( I'm saving everyone's plants and hoping for another gathering within the next month.

Yes, I'm a wimp. I admit it. I will miss you all very much. :(

Sorry to miss you Doris. Hopefully, you'll change your mind in the morning. I've rigged up my garage for the swap. There is a sign for each person on the wall so everyone has a space to put their plants and everyone is easy to find. Pre-printed name tags as well.

The pool table is covered and ready for all the yummy food.

Did I mention the garage is heated and the rec room has a wood burning stove?

    :)

There's just too much snow here and I've lost my Plant Trade mojo! :) I'll miss all of you guys. Jacqueline, I had some cool stuff dug for you, too! I'll have to find a way to meet with some of you folks this spring, for sure.

I plan to be there unless it snows like crazy.
I work in the afternoon, so won't be able to stay for the potluck this time.
Jacquie, sounds like you've gone to a lot of effort to make this work...sure sorry the weather is being the pits, but it should be cozy once we get there.

I will be there. I live in Issaquah and not much snow here now, apparently there is more up north.

well there is 8 inches here now, so I don't think Doris and I are wimps.

I've been out twice this evening knocking snow off all the shrubs that are all splayed out falling over in the heavy ice and snow.

sorry to miss seeing you all, have fun and be safe.
    Judy
